More on Belleair Shores Florida

Belleair Sure is a small sliver of shoreline between Indian Rocks Beach and Belleair Beach in Pinellas County just off the mainland from Clearwater, Belleair, and Largo. The boundary stretches from 28 Avenue Northeast to 20th St. to the north and is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and gulf Boulevard. This is a strictly residential community but technically its own small town with a population of less than 200.

Belleair Shores Homes for SaleConsidered the smallest town in Florida in both size and population, this community consists of just 55 private homes along the Gulf of Mexico shoreline just west of Gulf Boulevard and north of Indian Rocks Beach. Belleair Shore offers a 100% residential home community with no businesses, stores, or schools located within the boundary. This is a quaint neighborhood where you can enjoy the water, be fascinated by the sea turtles, and of course, no more than about 5 to 10 minutes from shops and restaurants nearby.

The town lies 4 miles directly south of the city of Clearwater Beach and 1 mile west of the city of Belleair Bluffs. While there are many entertainment and medical facilities nearby, this is strictly a residential community with homes featuring unobstructed views of the Gulf of Mexico. Private property lines extend westward to the mean high tide line.

The small town government does consist of a mayor and four commissioners who serve two-year terms and are elected by the town's residents. Commercial and multifamily high-rise buildings are prohibited in Belleair Shore and setback and height limitations are designed to protect the continuity of the beach.

Sea Turtles

The local sea turtle population is probably one of the biggest attributes or features of Belleair Shore. The Belleair Shore town commission members have always debated the marked sea turtle nests on their beachfront land and a lot of the times the city will actually relocate eggs onto private property without the permission of homeowners, something that potential residents should be aware of when choosing a home on Belleair Shore. However, those that preserve the sea turtles in the area do want to ensure local residents that sea turtle nests are planted purposely on public land and not violating someone's property rights.

The residents of Belleair are pretty stubborn and self-sufficient when it comes to requesting help from federal and state governments. So, if you like your privacy, your own Beach rights, and being set apart from the rest of the area, Belleair Shore might be ideal. And this is probably what makes Belleair Shore the perfect spot for relocating sea turtle nests. All over the state, the trained preserve of volunteers go out every morning before sunrise to look for drag marks and then post markers around those nests so that no one disturbs them up before the eggs hatch. If there is an issue with the nest site, they will dig up the eggs and move them.

Belleair Shore Homes

Because this is primarily residential, all homes sit along the Gulf of Mexico and feature waterfront property. Each home is unique and offers something custom, specially designed, and in prices from $1 million to over $10 million. You'll find luxury gated driveways, two and three-story homes, waterfront pools, and lots of unique amenities depending on the home.

Nearby

As we mentioned before, there are no commercial or industrial services in Belleair or itself but because it's so small, you're no more than about 5 to 10 minutes from shops and restaurants. The Bayside Park, located right next to the Causeway Boulevard, is a great little location on the Bayside but this is also right in the center of Belleair Shore, which heads east to Indian Rocks Road, offering shops, restaurants, markets, and more. The Largo Medical Center, the Publix grocery store, and many other services are less than 5 to 10 minutes along West Bay Dr., which heads right onto Belleair Shore.

Residents have access to over 30 golf courses all within about an hour of their home and Clearwater is just 15 minutes north or about 6 miles. It's easily accessed by heading north along Belleair Beach, over Sand Key to Clearwater Beach or heading across Causeway Boulevard up through Belleair on the mainland. Tampa is 42 minutes or about 27 miles east and the Tampa International Airport is just 40 minutes east across Interstate 275 or the Howard Frankland Bridge.

If you're looking for exclusivity, private waterfront homes, custom design, and luxury, you can't go wrong with a home on Belleair Shore.
