The Annual Sanding Ovations Master Cup Competition is back.
Once a year, on the shores of beautiful Treasure Island Beach on the Gulf of Mexico, the sand came to life and created a world of fantasy and fun.
This wonder is known as Sanding Ovations. It happens on Treasure Island beach each year in November. This year it occurred on November 17th-20th with an encore weekend November 26th-27th.
This year’s theme was “Once Upon a Time” and featured magnificent sand sculptures that transformed into a land of storybook fantasies.
This masterful exhibition of sand sculpting talent at a world-class level is a huge appeal.
This year’s wonderland was created through imaginations from sculptors all over the world including Sue McGrew, Deborah Barrett-Cutulle, Melineige Beauregard, Fergus Mulvany, Meredith Corson Doubleday, Bruce Phillips, as well as local talent Meredith and Dan Doubleday.
In 2001, Florida Governor Jeb Bush proclaimed Treasure Island is the Sand Sculpture Capital of Florida.
This is what led to the creation of Sanding Ovations, an annual sand sculpting exhibition and competition. Come see what happens when master sculptors turn their imaginations into piles of sand and buckets of water.
This free event is for everyone, except for your pup….no dogs allowed on the beach.
Visitors will have access to a beach food court, beer garden, local vendors, beach market, and of course never before seen sandcastles.
There is a long list of live music talent as well as a fireworks display…
Not only will your kids love the sandcastles, they will be entertained by the trampoline and slides.
