Learn More about Dover Florida
Dover Florida is an unincorporated community in Hillsborough County and home to about 4000 residents. It's nestled right on Highway 574 between Seffner and Plant City, 25 minutes or about 19 miles east of downtown Tampa., This sleepy little community just northeast of Brandon is surrounded by several other unincorporated cities. It supports the ZIP Code of 33527 and an area code of 813. This mixed-use community features a suburban and rural feel with a lot of parks, families, and a moderate median home value of about $120,000. 55% of residents own their own homes and about 45% rent. The median rent is just $636 and because it's less than an hour to Tampa, it makes a great little town for anyone looking for a lower-priced home in a sleepier, more quaint little village.
What to know about Dover Florida
There's not a lot of attractions or things to do in town itself but again, you're no more than an hour from St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tampa which offers a variety of amenities, attractions, and entertainment options. In town along Highway 574, you'll find a few restaurants and shops, salons, the Family Dollar store, churches, and other businesses.
Taqueria El Solesito is the main restaurant in town featuring delicious Mexican favorites and a great stop off to or from the Tampa Bay area. The local favorite is the tacos al pastor complete with a pineapple ring on top.
Another favorite is Nidia's Latin Grill located at 14164 574th Hwy and while you might think that this little town doesn't need more than one Mexican restaurant, you're definitely wrong because this offers a unique twist on Mexican favorites. While it might be small, there is a delicious grilled whole chicken, dinner plates, fantastic rice and beans, and although it gives you kind of a dive feeling, it's definitely a stop in town worth taking.
Dover Schools
Residents of Dover are part of the Hillsborough County school district and school-age children attend Dover Elementary, Strawberry Crest high school, and Turkey Creek middle school.
Why Choose Dover?
Dover is definitely out of the way but it also provides easy access to downtown Tampa. There are several access points along Highway 400, state Route 92 or Highway 574 running east and west of Plant City, Winston, and downtown Tampa. From Highway four or any of the highways, you can jump on Interstate 75 and head south to Brandon, or stay on Interstate 4 and head on over to St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Largo and Palm Harbor.
Home prices are deaf and expensive than a downtown Tampa where the average price is about $120,000. There's only about 5 to 10 properties for sale but if you're looking to build, the outlying neighborhoods and communities around Dover might have some great lots or new construction properties. Lakeland Florida is also about 20 minute east so you're no more than about 30 minutes from the beach or Tampa Bay in general.
