Eden Isle or Eden Island is a small man-made island in St. Petersburg Florida located at sea level accessed only through Snell Isle via Overlook Dr., Northeast from the north across Smacks Bayou or along 34th Ave. NE. or Monterey Blvd., Northeast, west of the island itself. There are approximately 70 single-family homes as well as the Snell Isle luxury waterfront apartment homes, multiple three-story buildings located on the north side of the island.
This small island is completely surrounded by Smacks Bayou and all homes that surround the perimeter have a boat dock and water access. Residents with both can head out into Tampa Bay to the east and either go into Snell Island Harbor or farther out into Tampa Bay and to the Gulf of Mexico.

Eden Isle Homes
There are only about 70 homesites on Eden Isle. Several have been older and have either been remodeled or torn down and rebuilt. Home prices are anywhere from $500,000 to over $3 million with vacant homesites that either have been subdivided or torn down and left blank starting at about $480,000. Waterfront homes and estates are typically on homesites of about .38 acres and you're likely to find new construction properties or existing waterfront homes.
At any given time there are only about two or three properties for sale on Eden Island, considering its size. Homes were built from the 1960s on up to today so you'll find a wide range and variety of styles and architectural designs. Most homes have fenced backyards or access to the water or a swimming pool. There are no homeowner association fees connected to homes on Eden Isle. 65% of residents own their own homes while 35% rent, but this is primarily because of the apartment buildings located on the island as well, which take up about 10% of the island real estate. Eden Isle Schools
Eden Isle is part of the Pinellas County school and residents are assigned to the North Shore elementary school, the John Hopkins middle school, and the St. Petersburg high school. The elementary school is about a mile away, the middle school is about 3 1/2 miles as is the St. Petersburg high school.
St. Petersburg high school receives excellent marks and ratings from both students and parents. There's a 23 to 1 student-teacher ratio and 90% of students and parents say that there are plenty of clubs and organizations for students. Here's what actual students say about the high school.

Just a couple of minutes away on Snell Isle is the Vinroy Golf Club. It's part of the Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Gulp Club and invites golfers of all skill levels in this 18 hole Ron Garl-designed championship course. Located 1.7 miles from the resort in St. Petersburg, this par 71, 6626-yard golf course was opened in 1992. It offers year-round golf as well as night golf, lessons, and tournaments.
About 10 minutes West is 4th St., North, which runs north and south through St. Petersburg. Here is where you'll find the majority of services and amenities such as the Northeast Park shopping center, multiple restaurants, the Fresh Market, Trader Joe's, cafés, banks, service stations, and much more.
Downtown Tampa Florida is about 30 minutes on Interstate 275, which can be easily accessed from Eden Isle along Highway 92 or 4th St., North. Residents can either take 38th Ave. W. to the freeway or hit 92 N. to the freeway.
Downtown St. Petersburg is about 10 minutes south as is the St. Petersburg airport, Tropicana Field, the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg and of course, all of the amenities and entertainment of downtown St. Petersburg.
Why live on Eden Isle?
Although you do have to cross Snell Isle to get to Eden Isle, this is more of a tightknit community. With a small enclave of homes, custom designs, and waterfront access, it makes a beautiful location just outside of downtown yet less than 10 minutes to most services and amenities. Home prices are quite affordable starting at about $500,000-$900,000 on average. Higher in luxury homes are also available or you could buy a homesites and start all over.
