The Grand Central Arts District is just west of the downtown core of St. Petersburg. Some would classify it as part of the downtown area. The neighborhood was formed in 2000 and is designated as a National Main Street Community as well as a member of the Florida Main Street program. Grand Central Arts District is a mix of residential homes, museums, galleries, antique stores, local and specialty retail stores and the largest new and used bookstore in the state. It is a great walkable neighborhood with its own vibe full of great activity and very close to even more in downtown.
Things to Do in and Near Grand Central Arts District
There is so much to do within this neighborhood just steps from homes. There is always something new and unique to discover as you walk along the streets especially Central Avenue with a large range of cafes, coffee shops, and stores.
A fine art museum featuring mostly the studio glass arts movement that began in America in the 1960s.
A very large new and used bookstore, as mentioned above it is the biggest one in the entire state of Florida. The store has been an institution of the city for over 60 years.
A live entertainment venue in the neighborhood that hosts local music artists, the venue is outdoors and hosts both up and coming local artists as well as large mainstream artists.
Downtown St. Petersburg and St. Pete Pier
The downtown area if St. Petersburg is not far from Euclid St. Paul and is the hub of activity for the city along the shores of the Tampa Bay. Enjoy the many art and history museums, go shopping at the mall, take a stroll down the very walkable streets, enjoy a local boutique shop, grab a bit to eat, hop on a trolley, grab a boat across the bay to downtown Tampa, or just enjoy the St. Pete Pier area. St. Pete Pier is a hub of waterfront activities. The pier itself extends into Tampa Bay and is described as a landmark pleasure pier. At the pier you will find plenty of beautiful outdoor spaces for walking and fishing or just playing, with sandy beach areas, restaurants, a play structure, and the popular Discovery Center with interactive exhibits and the chance to watch marine life in gorgeous created habitats.
Mall
The Mall at Sundial offers several stores right next to each other, restaurants, and other unique services. At the mall you can find Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, AMC theater, Tommy Bahama, Chico's, and more.
Home of the Tampa Bay Rowdies soccer team. The 7,500 seat stadium holds much of the areas interesting sports history as well as other events in addition to soccer games.
