Greater Woodlawn is a nice quiet neighborhood in the northern part of St. Petersburg. This neighborhood is located just west of the Crescent Heights neighborhood and offers a quiet atmposphere with neighborhood park and close proximity to everything in St. Pete as well as easy access to major roadways that can carry you into surrounding areas including St. Pete Beach and Tampa.
Things to Do In and Near Greater Woodlawn
Most of the commercial buildings in the neighborhood are found along 9th street. One of the most interesting is the Skyline Building on the corner of 26th inspired by the Guggenheim Museum. Wilson's Book Store, and Memory Lane Antique Mall are on 9th street in a former historic auto sales building.
A nice neighborhood park featuring green space, sports fields, sports courts, playground, and dog park.
A very large and very long standing garden in St. Pete. There are several paths that wind through lush botanical tropical gardens. Come watch the flamingos, look at fish in the ponds, catch a turtle slowly strolling along, and see some of the most impressive and oldest tropical plants in the area.
A beautiful green space full of mature trees surrounding Crescent Lake. It is a popular place to spread out a blanket and enjoy the outdoors, take a free yoga class, let the kids play on the play structure, take the dog tot the dog park, or walk the several trails. The park also features the Huggins-Stangel Sports Complex and the TASCO's Center for Teen Technology. Crescent Lake Park is just southwest of Greater Woodlawn.
This body of water is just east of the neighborhood and fed into by the Tampa Bay. Along the shores you will find a walking/biking path that extends to downtown as well as a small park with a fenced playground and public boat ramp.
The pier is just a few minutes south of Greater Woodlawn and is a hub of waterfront activities. The pier itself extends into Tampa Bay and is described as a landmark pleasure pier. At the pier you will find plenty of beautiful outdoor spaces for walking and fishing or just playing, with sandy beach areas, restaurants, a play structure, and the popular Discovery Center with interactive exhibits and the chance to watch marine life in gorgeous created habitats.
Downtown
Downtown St. Petersburg is not far from Greater Woodlawn and offers a large arts scene, many great museums, a sports stadium that hosts soccer and live concerts, plenty of shopping in unique local boutiques as well as the Sundial Mall, and of course many great restaurants.
