Old Southeast is a neighborhood of St. Petersburg Florida just south of downtown. The neighborhood is sometimes called the "Key West of St. Petersburg," as it is home to the Yacht Basin Marine district, a handful of winter-only residents, the most friendly neighbors in town, and a nice laid-back tropical lifestyle without heavy tourism.
Things to Do In and Near Old Southeast
Lassing Park is a large waterfront park in Old Southeast. This 14-acre park highlights views of the bay, downtown St. Pete, downtown Tampa, large green spaces, benches to take in the sights, a walking path, and a place to drop a kayak in the water.
A neighborhood landmark that is a local favorite. the atmosphere is unique and artsy and the food is a mix of American and British cuisine. There is also live music on Saturdays.
Downtown St. Petersburg
A big highlight of the neighborhood is that it is just under a mile from the downtown area of the city. There is so much to do here and it is just about 5 minutes from Old Southeast.
The pier is the waterfront area of Downtown St Pete. The pier itself extends into Tampa Bay and is described as a landmark pleasure pier. At the pier you will find plenty of beautiful outdoor spaces for walking and fishing or just playing, with sandy beach areas, restaurants, a play structure, and the popular Discovery Center with interactive exhibits and the chance to watch marine life in gorgeous created habitats.
