Tierra Verde is a small town that encompasses and island at the very south end of Pinellas County and considered to be part of the St. Petersburg-Clearwater metro area. The island is located at the mouth of Tampa Bay and probably most recognized as the home of Fort Desoto Park. Residents love the amazing water properties, laid back atmosphere, great activities, and proximity to larger cities.
Things to Do in Tierra Verde
A large park that takes up five interconnected islands at the south end of Pinellas County. The park features a historic fort, white sandy beaches, boat launch, floating docks, camping area, picnic shelters, playgrounds, trails, swim centers, fishing piers, ferry service to Egmont and Shell Key, concession stand with souvenirs, and a dog park. It has been voted as the best beach in Florida several times by large publications such as Parents Magazine. There is always something new to discover and do at the park.
Island of Egmont
The island of Egmont is right next to Fort De Soto and only accessible by boat. There is a ferry that runs from Fort De Soto Park. It is the furthest south island in the barrier islands of Pinellas County and home to Egmont Key State Park. There is nothing but nature, cool historic ruins, and a lighthouse that has stood since 1858 that still works guiding ships past the island into the bay or out to the Gulf of Mexico. Today the island is primarily a wildlife refuge but also an amazing place for swimming, fishing, shelling, and snorkeling.
The marina is on the north shore of the island that allows for access to the Gulf of Mexico without any drawbridges. It is an ideal location for even very large boats and yachts. There are both wet and dry storage slips available as well as a full service repair facility and a marine retail store. It is a prime location to store a boat in the area.

St. Pete Beach is one of Florida's most iconic beach towns offering what many Floridians call the best beaches in Florida. Any water activity you want to take part in can be done from the beaches in St. Pete Beach. Tradewinds Island Grand Resort is located on St. Pete Beach where you can enjoy waterslides and other family fun like mini-golf. The amazing town of St. Pete Beach can easily be accessed via the bridge just south of the neighborhood. St, Pete Beach is a neighbor to Tierra Verde.
Downtown St. Petersburg
Downtown is just minutes from Tierra Verde and sits on the shore of the Tampa Bay. It is home to a great collection of restaurants, shops, bars, cultural attractions, and a great art scene, as well as the pier.
The pier is part of the downtown area of St. Petersburg and is a hub of waterfront activities. The pier itself extends into Tampa Bay and is described as a landmark pleasure pier.
