Treasure Island is a town located on a beautiful barrier island just off the west coast of mainland Pinellas County. It is part of the St. Petersburg-Clearwater metro area. The town of Treasure Island got its name from an early hotel owner that buried two wooden chests in the white sands of the beach and later "discovered" buried treasure. Today it is one of the most amazing places to live for those that want to be right on the water in Florida.

Things to Do in and Near Treasure Island

The Beaches

Treasure Island is most recognized for its miles of gorgeous white sand beaches that are located on the Gulf of Mexico providing less crowded perfect tropical beaches. Hop on the beach Trolley and head down there without a car. At the beach enjoy lounging in a chair, swimming, parasailing or paragliding, boating, scuba diving, snorkeling, paddle boarding, sailing, and more either on your own or through one of the many rental and tour companies that run out of Treasure Island. 

Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis Recreation Center

A great place to get active while enjoying the scenery of Treasure Island. The club features golf, tennis, pickleball, footgolf, and more  recreational activities. 

Paradise Spa

There are a few great spas in Treasure Island. Paradise Spa is probably the most highly rated. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to serve you. It is a great place to relax and treat yourself. 

Ka'Tiki

The definition of a laid-back beach bar. Enjoy a menu of burgers and wings and appetizers while enjoying a full bar menu. There is live music everyday as well. It is a lively local place popular with locals and visitors alike. 

St. Pete Beach

St. Pete Beach is on the barrier island south of Treasure Island  and is one of Florida's most iconic beach towns offering what many Floridians call the best beaches in Florida. Any water activity you want to take part in can be done from the beaches in St. Pete Beach. Tradewinds Island Grand Resort is located on St. Pete Beach where you can enjoy waterslides and other family fun like mini-golf. The amazing town of St. Pete Beach can easily be accessed via the bridge just south of the neighborhood. St, Pete Beach is a neighbor to Tierra Verde. 

Downtown St. Petersburg

Downtown is a fairly short drive  and sits on the shore of the Tampa Bay on the other side of the mainland area of Pinellas County. It is home to a great collection of restaurants, shops, bars, cultural attractions, and a great art scene, as well as the pier. 

St. Pete Pier

The pier is part of the downtown area of St. Petersburg and is a hub of waterfront activities. The pier itself extends into Tampa Bay and is described as a landmark pleasure pier. At the pier you will find plenty of beautiful outdoor spaces for walking and fishing or just playing, with sandy beach areas, restaurants, a playground.
